Appalachian Riverboard Company
Getting you IN instead of on the water since 2009
We offer whitewater fun through making riverboards and also doing instruction. What is riverboading? Imagine ocean bodyboarding meets whitewater, but on a beefier, more buoyant board that has handles on top. Riverboarders wear a wetsuit, knee pads and shin guards, and fins in addition to standard whitewater safety gear of helmet and PFD. Riverboarding allows you to be IN the current and experience whitewater in a whole new way. It is also easier to learn than kayaking as you are basically kicking / swimming with a board under your upper body, so it is possible to get started in class II and III rapids on your first day under guidance.
We offer guided trips on the Tuckasegee river near Dillsboro by booking / appointment. Please do not come to our listed address as that is our workshop. We will give you detailed information for meeting up before your trip.
